A deep red wedding qipao cut long and close, with a gold crane embroidered just below the mandarin collar and a pearl button closing the keyhole opening. It is the dress a bride changes into for the toasting round, and it works the same way at an engagement dinner or a New Year table.
The side seam is split high, so the skirt opens as you walk and closes again when you stand. There is no lining, which keeps a floor-length dress light through a long evening.
