How to take each measurement

Compare these three numbers with the size chart on the product page rather than choosing by letter size.

Front and side figure showing where to measure bust, waist and hips

Bust

Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your bust and across your back. Keep it level all the way around and breathe normally.

Natural waist

Measure around the narrowest part of your torso. To find it, bend gently to one side and note where the natural crease forms.

Hips

Stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat, keeping the tape parallel to the floor.

Custom Size

Send your actual body measurements — we add the ease when cutting.

Other measurements we may ask for

  • Shoulder to hem Stand upright and measure from the midpoint of your shoulder, over the fullest part of your bust, down to the place where you want the hem to end.
  • Shoulder width Measure across your upper back from one shoulder joint to the other, following the natural curve. A fitted top can help identify the shoulder seam points.
  • Shoulder to bust point Measure from the midpoint of your shoulder down to the fullest point of the bust on the same side.
  • Bust point to bust point Measure straight across from one bust point to the other. Keep the tape horizontal without pressing it into the body.
  • Shoulder to waist Measure from where your neck meets your shoulder, pass over the fullest point of your bust, and continue to your natural waist.
  • Back width With your arms relaxed, measure straight across your back from the crease of one armpit to the crease of the other.
  • Armhole Wrap the tape from the top outside edge of your shoulder, under the armpit, and back to the starting point. Keep your arm relaxed.
  • Upper arm With your arm hanging naturally, measure around the fullest part of your upper arm without flexing.
  • Neck Measure around the base of your neck where a collar would sit. Leave enough room to slide one finger comfortably under the tape.
  • Height Measured without shoes, standing upright against a wall.
  • Weight Helps us read your measurements as a whole; it is not used on its own.
  • Shoe heel height The heel height you plan to wear with the piece, since it affects the finished length.
