A long black velvet cheongsam with a single spray of bamboo leaves embroidered from the collar down one side of the bodice. Nothing else interrupts the black, so the dress reads quiet from a distance and detailed up close.

Full-length sleeves and a high side slit make it move well at a winter event; the mandarin collar and diagonal frog-button placket keep the line traditional. The velvet is unlined, so it sits light for its warmth.
