A long black qipao cut close to the body, with a gold crane embroidered below the mandarin collar and a pearl button closing the keyhole opening. Sleeveless, and split high at one side.
Black leaves the crane as the only thing on the dress. It reads as evening wear rather than costume, which makes it easier to wear to a dinner, a gallery opening or a Lunar New Year table.
